We live in a neighborhood that is well known for its garage sales. And garage sales have taken on a whole new meaning for us with the addition of Shmu. During our last hunt, we stumbled upon the perfect West Marine kayak! Ru's been wanting one for as long as we've been married, I think, and would really enjoy going to the Back Bay on a regular basis. So for our Labor Day family adventure, we packed ourselves up and gave Kyle his maiden voyage. We went with low expectations and prepared for it to be a total bust. However, we were so happy that it was just the opposite! The kayak is all that we hoped for and much more, and Shmu did really well. He seems to really mellow out when he's got wind on his face, so the trip was a peaceful one. He only tried to jump in the water twice! :)
We came home already planning another trip for this weekend and are looking forward to tent camping at a private beach along the bay someday. Why not enjoy the beauty around you, even if it is just a couple miles from your house? ;)

How fun! Where is this back bay? Part of Balboa Bay? What a beautiful setting.
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! Dave would be jealous. He wants to buy a boat SO bad. And as far as camping....take the plunge! There isn't really any advice except have fun. We are hoping to get back out again this fall. Taking a space heater just in case. =)
