Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday Kyle had the day off from school and since the sky was overcast and the temp was under 90, we took the opportunity to venture into something fall-ish. The Pumpkin Patch!!! Last year we enacted a rule that we wouldn't go to a pumpkin patch and drip with sweat! So with a random cloud cover keeping the sun at bay, we jumped in our car and met up with our neighbor friends for a few hours of fun.

The train caught their attention every time.

Both boys enjoyed running through the maze over and over again.

A longing peek at the train passing by.
The kids enjoyed a 10 minute ride through the park from the caboose.
We do this each year, so it's quite amazing to see my very big boys sitting all by themselves. I certainly don't have a baby or toddler anymore.
The date stamp is obnoxious, but I really liked this view.
Then on to the tractor rides...
The boys were in heaven! Kyle loved being old enough to drive (haha!) and Gavin was perfectly content to go along for the rides by his brother's side.

Afterwards it was time for a snack lunch, feeding the ducks, watching the train go by, and a visit to the playground.

And the clouds held the entire time we were there!!! Success!

Beating the Heat

September is always the hottest month of the year, but so far, October has won a record for the most consecutive triple digit days with very little cool off in the evenings. So, we do anything and everything that's indoors and man is everyone cranky tired of this weather! Earlier this month I was decorating my October mantel with an ice pack over my shoulders. It's just not right! How we long for our jackets and blankets. They say this extreme weather is due to the El Nino we are expecting. Whatever the reason, we're over it! :)

These pictures have been sitting in a draft post for a few months, but quite honestly... we're still doing the same sort of thing in our efforts to beat the heat. We've done The Pretend City, The La Habra Children's Museum, the beach, and this fun Dinosaur Kingdom in the whole upstairs section of a struggling mall. The boys had a blast with our neighbor friends and we all enjoyed the air conditioning.
Gavin drove this little guy all over the ring and had an absolute blast.

Kyle loved driving/riding it as well.
There were so many different inflatable mazes and bounce houses/slides. At first Gavin was timid to try these things on his own, but with his brother's help and encouragement, Gavin soon joined in and had a great time keeping up with his older brother.

Kyle doesn't have school tomorrow, so we have a whole day to play.  I wonder what new adventure we'll take part in. It's supposed to cool down to the mid 80's. Hooray! (said with sarcasm!!) Where are you fall?
