"The Best Day Ever"

Today was the best day ever, according to Kyle! ;) We did what we do often enough with church, beach, and a stop at our favorite pizza place ... but I think Kyle was super thankful to have both of his parents spending the entire day just playing and hanging out as a family. :) It was a pretty fun day.
Rudy did his cave man thing and explored the jetty thoroughly, bringing back "treasures" to show the boys. A stick, fishing line, and a shell go a long way with this guy. I'm telling you, he's my number one pick on a deserted island.
Gavie spent most of our time taking his nap cuddled up in my arms. It was a priceless, rare hour or so. When he woke up, he was all about this little water hole. He kept throwing handfuls of sand into the water and smiling at the splash it made.
 Smiling and clapping! :)

No beach trip would be complete without a ride on the "Maker."
Towel changes in the trunk of the car!
And off to Gina's Pizza for some awesome Italian food!

Kyle's 1st School Field Trip

I got to go with Kyle on his first field trip ever! He has asked me to volunteer often and I've slipped in to his room at every opportunity I've been able, but this was the first day I got a sub and spent the whole day with him and his class. It was so fun! Just look at this true Kyle smile!
He immediately found the t-shirt he had sponge painted the week before. He was so proud!
While we were getting things settled, I snapped a few pictures of his room. I love all the thematic realia his teacher has for their little hands to explore.
Their unit of study is on Sharing the Planet and they are learning about living and non-living things, life cycles, as well as dinosaurs, fossils, and what it means to be a carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore.
There's lots of evidence of fun learning.
While we waited for the bus to come, the kids sang a song called "I Am A Paleontologist!"

Kyle's favorite part of the entire day, was getting to ride the bus on the freeway!!!
This was his face, glued to the window for the entire ride! ;) And, since it was the first time most of his classmates had been on a bus, their excitement was through the roof. I can't count how many times someone yelled for Kyle to look at this or that. It was cute to see them all so excited.
At Kidspace Museum, the kids learned more about dinosaurs, fossils, and paleontologists.
We also got to explore other fun parts of the museum.

We had a great time!

Beachin' It

Today we spent the morning at the beach with our neighbors. The daddies surfed while the mommies played with and ran after kids.

I love seeing Kyle go out with his Daddy.

Gavie didn't take too much to being left out.
 "Wait for me, Daddy!"
He quickly forgot about all that and started playing with sand. Now, because Gavin is Gavin...he was soon far, far away. Fortunately, there wasn't anybody else in sight so I let him go just to see how far he would wander without looking back. Where's Gavin?
:) After a little exploration and laying in the sand every 4 feet, he came back on his own.
Trying to warm up a super cold Kyle.
He soon warmed and became "Kyle, the Flying Squirrel."

It was a beautiful morning.

Some Rainy Minutes

Sadly, we didn't have much rain this weekend by us, but the inlanders did and the snow on the mountains has been so beeeutiful. :)  We take what we can get though, and the boys seem to know it won't last but a few minutes so they run as quickly as they can to grab their gear. I love and crack up at these pictures.

Gavie just squats out of nowhere. Love it. ;)
We should probably get another umbrella and a raincoat for Kyle...but it's so hard to buy something you really won't use but for 10 minutes out of the year. Hand-me downs anyone? ;)

Sunday Mornings

I'm all about highlighting our family favorites on this blog, so last Sunday when I happened to have my camera in my purse (yes, I'm the last girl on the planet to not have a smartphone with a built in camera!), I snapped these pics to show what the boys absolutely love to do in between services at church. Donuts!!!!!! They take their pick and then walk over to this fountain and eat. It's their thing.

Gavin handles it... ;)

And then inevitably, Daddy finds something for them to play with... ;)

Saturday Fun - Waiting for Rain

Yesterday, we played outside for as long as we could before the anticipated rain was to come. We waited for that rain all day long. And it didn't rain until I put my head on my pillow. This big storm that was going to have us indoors all weekend looks like it's gone. :( On the bright side, at least I don't have any watering to do outside today.  I love the rain on a weekend when I don't have to drive in it. That may sound ridiculous unless you know that driving in rain here is the equivalent of driving in a blizzard somewhere else. If you don't believe me, come check it out. Insurance companies love CA rain.

But enough about the rain that wasn't. Here's a few pics of what we were up to all.day.long. The boys are nuts about their skateboards and ramps. As the day goes on they get more gutsy, Rudy gets more creative, and I try not to watch! ;) It's a winning combo.

Check out Gavin's glee-filled face as he zooms along. :)
Building something...
...which led to building a ramp that kept growing higher and longer.

 :) ;) :)
Rudy built this box cart thingy on top of one of his skateboards so Kyle could transition from his scooter to the feel of a skateboard. Kyle was on it all day. And Gavie loved learning how to pedal his tricycle.
Them's storm clouds behind us! :) Haha! Rudy was laughing at my words saying, "You can't put that on the blog, it's so embarrassing! You're such a Californian." Well, yes I am. :)
